How to play a Sidequest.
No app needed. Your phone and an access code from a local business or event is all it takes to play.
Step by step
Get your access code
A local business, venue, or event organizer runs a Sidequest. They share an access code — you might see it on signage, a receipt, a QR code, or a social post. Ask the staff if you're unsure.
Enter the code at sidequest.app/play
Open sidequest.app/play in your mobile browser and type in your access code. No account needed to play — just the code.
Check in at the quest location
For Traffic Quests, you'll need to physically be inside the defined zone (a radius around the business or venue). For Map Quests, visit each pinned location. Your device uses GPS to confirm check-ins.
Win prizes
Once you check in, you're automatically entered based on the quest rules. Winners are selected when the goal is met or the quest ends. Redeem prizes in-store using the QR code and redemption flow.
Common questions
Do I need to download an app?
No. Everything runs in your mobile browser. Just open the link or type in sidequest.app and go.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required to play. Just enter your access code and check in.
How does location check-in work?
Your browser will ask for location permission. Once you allow it, Sidequest uses your GPS coordinates to confirm you're inside the quest zone. You must be physically present.
What kinds of quests are there?
Traffic Quests get you to visit one location — like checking in at a restaurant or retail store. Map Quests send you to multiple pinned spots, like a scavenger hunt around a neighborhood or event.
How do I claim my prize?
If you're selected as a winner, you'll see a redemption code and QR code. Show it to a staff member at the business to claim your prize.
